Forum could have its own Domain Name

I think the forum deserves its own domain name.

I thought of "InfinityForum.com", but that name is already taken (I have asked for a price, though).

Another one is "Forumagon.com" (it grows on you after a while).

There is, of course, "MathIsFunForum.com"

Any Ideas?

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

Apparently, the trendy thing to do nowadays is to flip the address over and get http://forum.mathsisfun.com.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

I have tried dozens of names, and found that "SphereForum.com" was available so I got it. We don't have to use it, though.

It sounds kinda cool, though. "Oh yeah, I am a member of the Sphere Forum"

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

We could be a 1-sphere (circle), 2-sphere or a hypersphere. I might be a spheroid. smile

mathwriting.com is taken

mathscribble.com?

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

I think we should save the money, actually; mathsisfun.com/forum seems very easy to remember. Having two different domains for the forum and the main website would be confusing and hard to remember for some people. It is a good idea, but we should wait for more users' views.

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

A change to MathIsFunForum.com would be hardly noticeable (I would get the server to redirect you).

But we should really explore the possibilities of a new name.

I have not heard back from the owner of "Infinity Forum .com"

"Sphere Forum" sounds cool to me.

MathFunForum.com is also available

More opinions, comments, suggestions!

I'm still trying to think of more...

Love the idea, but it would only be funny to people in the know.

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

Ooops .. that one exists and redirects to an adult site! But ForumInfinity.com is available (why didn't I think to reverse the names before - thanks siva).

As well as suggestions (thanks for those) ... could I ask everyone to voice there opinion on this change?

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

I think nearly every 1,2,3 and most 4-letter names are taken.

We may have luck with a letter/number combo. The website "worth1000.com" also has "w1k.com"

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

I looked in vain for an hour for a list of all domain names taken, but
could find nothing.  Weird?  Couldn't someone like Yahoo or Google
make a nice alphabetical list they are aware of, or would this pose
some sort of problem or break some rules of privacy?

Would you like to vote for:

MathIsFunForum.com
MathFunForum.com
ForumInfinity.com
SphereForum.com
do nothing

I noticed that "mi2f.com" is available - could be used as a shortcut (ie redirect)

Do nothing!!! I am comfortable using http://www.mathsisfun.com/forum ; I guess, most others are. However, www.MathsIsFunForum.com isn't a bad idea!!!

Re: Forum could have its own Domain Name

If we are changing it, MathIsFunForum.com gets my vote. But like Ganesh, I think it's okay the way it is, I don't have any problem with the current url.
