which is the right result?

Hey!!I have a question..
Suppose  base=10 , precision t=3, -L=U=10 and

I want to calculate the relative error for B.
We don't make rounding. For example,if we have the value 345.924 it is equal to
and the corresponding floating number is
.

Could you tell me which is the result,so I can check mine?

Re: which is the right result?

Hi evinda;

I am afraid I do not understand what you want. What do you want to check the relative error for?

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

I found the relative error

but I don't know if the result that I found is right.

Is this what you are calculating?

Yes, I calculate the real value of this

and its value as a floating-point number.
So,the result I am looking for should have the form

Re: which is the right result?

The exact value is 3 / 10, now what did you get for your floating point value?

Re: which is the right result?

1? How did you get that?

I can calculate the relative error of that answer if you like.
