Lowered some more scores:

L5 down to 40 - I'd previously started working towards the right, but after exhausting all possibilities and still not getting down to your 40 I switched tack and went left...and there it was.

L2 down to 47 - eliminated a superfluous move I'd been overlooking.

L6 down to 47 - spotted a good move I'd missed, to save 5.

L7 down to 18 - I'd been making a silly extra move.

EDIT #1: L6 down to 46...getting there!
EDIT #2: L6 down to 44 I wonder if it can be bettered...seems open, and there may be other possibilities.
EDIT #3: L9 down to 41.

Total now 338.

This has taken over my life! I might even go to bed one day after I think I can't do any better! <yawn>

D-Star revisited! I thought this ancient thread had died.

Jane and I had a lot of fun on here, striving to outdo each other!

I had spent a lot of time on this and had tried very hard to find the least-possible number of moves so that Jane couldn't overtake me, and I'd thought that I was successful because Jane, who is next-to-impossible to beat at anything(!), didn't respond to my last post.

Yes, jgrant...I'd be very interested to see the screenshots.

Yes, I think I can understand how you feel because I read most of the posts between you and Jane (even though the content dwelt in the stratosphere compared to my lack of knowledge in the topics you two discussed).

I can be a bit of a terrier at times, and with D-Star I felt that I had a chance against Jane and pursued it as best I could.

Tulip is looking as lovely as ever.

That koala (which is a marsupial, not a bear) disappeared the next day, but since then there have been half a dozen or so (just one at a time) paying a visit in gum trees at my place and also next door's. No doubt there have been more that I've missed.

I've taken many photos and several videos of the ones I saw.

Usually their arrival is announced quite loudly by magpies squawking at the unwelcome intruder - and they swoop them too - but they've left the koalas alone lately. I wonder if the racket only starts up during breeding season...which it isn't at the moment.

I know I came a little late to the party but I didn't find this website until september '12. When I first did the puzzle I couldn't get past level 2 and I gave up after about an hour of trying. After comming back to it I had alot of trouble on level 9. Once I finished the puzzle and I had done it in about 700 moves i tried to see what the lowest number possible was and came across this thread. My friend and I then one upped each other until we got it done in about 332 moves, and then we finally figured out how to do it in 328. So....where is my reward!

Thanks for posting those moves...that accounts for the 10 fewer moves than mine.

I was going to ask you for them but let it go because I thought I was over that game, but once I'm done with trying to refine the "Who has the purple door?" puzzle I'll probably want to try to work out how you got them.

Hi jgrant,

I managed to reduce L2 to 45, L3 to 19 and L4 to 27 (same scores as yours), and I've updated the table and videos in post #27.

The only others I've looked at so far are L1 and L5, but I can't improve their scores.

To be honest, I did not read most the posts. I just looked at the number of moves each of you got. My current record for L2 is 51.

That's a good score.

I started out with 53, which I eventually whittled down to 47. I thought that was the minimum possible but jgrant proved me wrong with 45, and so I set out to try to get that...which I managed to do.

I like this puzzle.

Hi, I have become a big fan of d-star. It took me days till I could solve all levels with less than 1025 moves. Once I achieved this, I wanted to see as you guys what the minimum amount of moves were necessary to complete all levels. So eventually I reached the same score as you did. I wanted to know whether the moves could be reduced even more. A few days ago I managed to reduce from 328 to 327. I am still searching for less moves...
