hi juantheron and bobbym,

I get 104 too. 

This is how I did it.

The remainder is 104 when divided by 12d and only 23 when divided by d.

104 - 23 = 81.  So d must divide 81.  Possible values are 3, 9, 27 and 81.

Try d = 3.  12d = 36.  But 36 divides 104 so this rules out d = 3.

If d = 9,   take the 104 and divide it by 9.  There is a remainder of 5, not 23.  This rules out d = 9

d = 27 and d = 81 give 6d > 104 so the 104 cannot be further divided and lead to a remainder of 104
