smilarity

In the quadrilateral ABCD , ‹B is bisected by a bisector intersecting  AC(line segment) at E. F is the point of intersection of AD(line segment) with the ray EF drawn parallel to CD(line segment). If AB=9cm , BC=6cm , EF=2.4cm< FIND the length of CD(line segment).

plz attach the drawing to your answer.

Re: smilarity

as ganesh has already provided the diagram ... am providing the solution ...

AE/AB = EC/BC .... bisector theorem ...

from this we get ...

EC/AE = 2/3
=> AC/AE = 5/3 ... AC = AE + EC

now, AEF ~ ACD

hence, CD/EF = AC/AE

CD = 4
