Math help

I recently moved to USA from Canada and my education is a bit of a mess right now. I am behind is some of the math that is being taught and there are some holes in my knowledge and i need help with filling those up.

1.Can some one explain what sin/tan/cos theta are?
2.What csc/cot/sec are?
3. How do they help me with triangles?
4. any other things related to them.

Thx for your help,

C25

Re: Math help

Consider this right-angled triange.

They hypotenuse the side opposite the right angle. The other two sides are called adjacent (next to the angle x) and opposite (opposite the angle x).

Then we have

1.

2.

3.
They help you calculate unknown sides and angles of triangles.

4.
There are lots of useful trigonometrical formulas, such as

(note that we usually write
as
; similarly for the other trigonometric functions).

careless25,
Please check these formulas, particularly post #7.
The other posts maybe useful too, a little later. smile
