Re: Harry Potter

This thread needs something. Its needs.....something to do with math!

y = arcsin (ax/b)

dy/dx = a/sqrt( b - a^2 x^2 )

y = arctan (ax/b)

dy/dx = ab/(a^2 x^2 + b^2)

YAY!

(stands back to look at the thread) Much better!

Indeed it is. Well done, mikau.

Re: Harry Potter

Speaking of Harry Potter, has anyone read those variants of Harry Potter books?

"The Ring Of The Ancients, Book 6 of Harry Potter". "Book 7, Wormtail's Revenge". I absolutely love these variants. I read them in a word document, and they were amazing...of course, these were made by fans, but they absolutely fitted with the storyline, all the way. They were actually as good as the real books themselves! These kind of variants (not sure that's the right word to use here... tongue ) are often used to amuse people while waiting for the next Harry Potter book. I think these variants are not only interesting, but I think that they could be published as well. These are no ordinary fan-produced books...and I think they should've been part of the series (in fact I think the Ring Of The Ancients book was better than the Half-Blood Prince!) anyway. If anyone wants to read this, try googling the web for a copy. I'm sure there is one still out there. I doubt you'd be able to find a copy book 'Wormtail's Revenge' lying on a dusty page somewhere on the web, but you might if you're extremely lucky...but anyway, go for the Ring Of The Ancients. It'll be a lot easier to find. wink

Re: Harry Potter

Welcome to MathsIsFun, roderick. Remember, only post your email here if you are over 13 years of age. I have not read the 'Harry Writers' version of Book 5. At the moment, I do not have 'Wormtail's Revenge', but I will most certainly browse everywhere and anywhere I can to find it.

Happy reading. wink

Re: Harry Potter

Thanks for that link, roderick. I'm sure many other people will benefit from it.

I specifically remember a download link for 'Wormtail's Revenge'. I will search high and low for it. In the meantime, keep looking. You might just strike it lucky.

EDIT: Well, maybe others won't benefit from it. That whole page is in Czechslovakian, and I'm guessing that the document will be in Czechslovakian, too. I need a translator. :\

EDIT 2: No, I guessed wrong. The document itself is in plain English.

Re: Harry Potter

I've found something called 'Harry Potter and the Angel of Justice'. This is fan-written, and I've heard something like this before. Could it be the same as Wormtail's Revenge?

Another one - Harry Potter and the Story of Eliza? What could this be?

Just found: Harry potter and the Book of Ages.

OK, now this is just stupid: Harry Potter and the Book Report???

Found 'Harry Potter and the Book of Megan Le Fey'.

Re: Harry Potter

HI :just wanted to share. here evryone can very comfortably read HARRY WRiter 5 and 6 online.AT THE END OF book 6 HW wrote a preview for book 7http://www.forome.net/     and here beautyful od fantasy comics can be downloaded for freehttp://kaskus.us/userframe.php?link=http://www.aibq.com/catalog.php                  but where is HW Book 7 ? I developed a theory there . You see..... Perhaps THAT is Wormtails Revenge. Perhaps He used Magic to make HW 7 vanish from Internet, perhaps from Reality itself. But to what end? Does he lose in the Book and wants to hide his Shame or wants he to torture all fans of the Story for the pure sake of evil?

Err...sure. tongue

Book 7 definitely exists. I distinictly remember reading through it, and having complete access to the file. Too bad I got rid of it to free up valuable disk space.

Re: Harry Potter

Did you know that Years before there was JKR Harry Potter Books or the Movies there was a Dc Vertigo Comic Series which Hero Character and Story exactly resembles harry potter?(a boy sorcerer novice black hair glasses ,an owl as a pet et cetera...) name of series was"BOOKS OF MAGIC" here you can see http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1563890828?v=glance                                                                                    And 1985 There was the Movie "Young Sherlock Holmes"http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000AUHPC?v=glance                                                                                    The 3 hero Characters (young holmes, young watson and a girl Elisabeth)loook alike and act like Harry Ron and hermione only that RON lookalike HOLmes is smart guy and HARRY doppelganger WATSON is the rather dull guy and has a few pounds more too. They come together to a new school.horrible crimes that seems to be magical are being commited.Holmes uses some sort of flying Car"Holmes has a fellow scholar as Nemesis .An arrogant blonde boy who looks like DRACO MALFOY .At the end the three Kids find out who the bad guy behind it all is.A seemingly friendly and harmless teacher(i wont spoil your fun and tell who) if you see the movie you will find even more resemblances to the first JKR HP BOOK which came out years later.            JKR these days sues anyone who writes a story with even the farthest resemblance to her HP Books .I heard some story something like a russian or so writer wrote a story about a little girl who is a witch and flies on a vacuum cleaner. And JKR sued for stealing her ideas.  But dont you wonder yourself now where she herself got her Ideas to the HP Books?   BY the way i'm still looking for HW book 7  HW writes absolutely better than JKR Lets hope Book seven will be found and he writes an Book 8 too

Very interesting roderick!

It certainly is a common theme in literature - and I wonder how you could copyright it.

Re: Harry Potter

A book 8 wouldn't be right. It was official that there would and should only be 7 books - Even it is for the Harry Fan Writers' fans' sake.

But good type-up, roderick. Could JK Rowling have playgurised the whole thing from the very beginning?

Err...

-

Let's hope she or one of her friends/assistants/colleagues doesn't read this thread, BTW.

Re: Harry Potter

Of course JKR SAYS there will only be seven Books. This makes book 1 - 7 very special and is very good for SALES .but when all 7 are out and the Money is good why should she not change her mind like a Politician and write three Dozen Potters more. Potters by the Dozen - throw them in the Ocean. !!!        BUT the idea of HARRY WRITER writing an 8 is not mine. It comes from that interesting Discussion Board dedicated to HARRY WRITER.http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f44/t29495.html

That would be just silly. The Harry Potter series doesn't even need to  be that long.

Re: Harry Potter

Yeah And Sherlock Holmes perished at the Reichenbach Falls and neither Sir Arthur Conan Doyle nor any other author or Regisseur ever again wrote a Story about that obsolete Detective. He took VoldeMoriarty with him when he died. More Stories were not needed!!! OH, but what about Colonel Moran, You see: since he wasn't needed anymore he became a honest man .He went into Politics. You wont belive it but Moriartys Henchman Moran is an Ancestor of Tony Blayr.
