Finding the coefficient of [math]u^n[/math]

Let's say that I am given the product of two binomials

And I have expanded them via Newton's Binomial Theorem

I'm wondering how to find the coefficient of

in this case. And can this be generalized?

Re: Finding the coefficient of [math]u^n[/math]

You could pull out a factor of
from the second pair of parentheses, and then both of your bracketed terms are the same. It then suffices to find the coefficient of
in the expansion of
, which you can do just by using the binomial formula.
