Help!! Stupid Story Problems!

1. Oak Hill, Longview, and Peabody Schools participated in a clean-up campaign to collect scrap aluminum. Oak Hill School collected 40% more scrap aluminum than Longview School. Longview School collected 25% more than Peabody School. If the total collected by the 3 schools was 560 kg, how much did Oak Hill School collect?

2. Eladio invested 200$ at 6% annual interest and 350$ at 5.75 annual interest, both compounded annually. If he makes no deposists or withdrawals, how much will he have after two years?

I totally dont get those!

(1) OH = 140/100* (L) = 7/5(L), L = 5/7 (OH)
L = 125/100 (P) = 5/4 (P), P = 4/5 (L) = 4/5(5/7)(OH) = 4/7 (OH)
OH + L + P = OH + 5/7 (OH) + 4/7 (OH) = 16/7 (OH) = 560 kg
OH = 560 * 7/16 = 245 kg

(2) A = P(1+r)^n
(a) A = 200(106/100)^2 = $224.72
(b) 350(105.75/100)^2 = $ 391.41
Therefore, after two years, he gets $616.13.

1. P + 1.25P + 1.4(1.25P) = 560 Kg

2.25P + 1.75P  →  4P = 560

P = 140 Kg.

O = 1.75P = 245.

2. Q = P( 1+r)
Q1 = 200( 1+0.06) = $212
Q2 = 212( 1+0.06 ) = $224.72

Q3 = 350( 1 + 0.0575 ) = $370.13
Q4 = 370.13( 1 + 0.0575 ) = $391.41

391.41 + 224.72 = 616.13

Sorry if I was cryptic. I'm feeling lazy tonight. If you need better explanation, I'll oblige.
